The Jazz Foundation of America Presents: Gene Ghee Quartet

The esteemed saxophonist and woodwind multi-instrumentalist Gene Ghee has performed with Jack McDuff, Jimmy McGriff, Etta Jones, Anita Baker, Barry Harris, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Bernard Purdie, Arthur Prysock, BT Express, Amiri and Amina Baraka, the Apollo House Band, Benny Powell, Harlem Renaissance Orchestra, Wade Barnes’ Brooklyn Repertory Ensemble, Tulivu Cumberbatch, Ed Stoute, Essence Award Show Band, Panama Francis, Odean Pope Saxophone Choir, Sam Rivers Band and saxophone ensemble, Mercer Ellington, Julius Hemphill Saxophone Ensemble, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Monguito Santamaria and many others. Also an educator, horn contractor, and copyist and notably played tenor saxophone on Stevie Wonder’s “Do I Do” recording, in addition to performing in Broadway and off-Broadway shows such as Annie, Ain’t Misbehavin’, A Portrait of Ray Charles, Bubbling Brown Sugar (in Europe), Little Ham, and Rosetta Lenoire’s Amas Repertory Theater. He has received the New York Daily News Music Teacher Recognition Award from the UFT, and the Brooklyn Jazz Great Award presented by District Attorney Charles Hynes.
