Milwaukee-born drummer Mark Johnson is held in high regard among musicians for his supportive work with Abbey Lincoln, Cassandra Wilson, Wallace Roney, George Braith and others. For this concert he presents the special, longtime rhythm section for the late great Brooklyn vocalist Tulivu-Donna Cumberbatch, performing in her memory alongside the dependable saxophonist Patience Higgins.
This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and by the Howard Gilman Foundation.
