R.L. BOYCE--aka Big Blues Mane--has been playing Blues for over a half of century. R.L. began playing North Mississippi Blues in 1970 at age 15 with his Uncle Otha Turner’s Rising Stars Traditional Fife and Drum Band. He went on to play and record with the SHEWOLF herself Jessie Mae Hemphill, before he moved to guitar on a dare from fellow musician, Mississippi All-star Luther Dickinson. R.L. was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2018 for his sophomore release Roll & Tumble, was a Blues Music Award nominee 2022 for his self released BOOGIE w/ RL BOYCE Live, and has a new release out FALL 2023 on Easy Eye Sounds produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. R.L. is a 2023 NEA National Heritage Fellow.
