Filmed this past June at City Winery, on the edge of Manhattan’s west side, overlooking the Hudson River, SPOTLIGHT JAZZ was the Jazz Foundation’s first “live” event in 16 months, featuring jazz legends and other stellar performers, in front of a limited number of guests, adhering to strict health and safety protocols. Donations from this 90-minute all-star virtual concert benefit the JFA’s COVID-19 Musicians’ Emergency Fund, established in March 2020, to provide direct financial assistance to musicians and families affected by the pandemic and assistance to cover basic living expenses including rent, groceries, and utility bills.

“We started the Covid-19 Musicians’ Emergency Fund to increase our level of support for our community, which has been devastated by the pandemic. We’ve been able to help more jazz musicians and their families this past year and a half, than ever before in the history of the JFA, but still, more needs to be done. Obviously, none of this can happen without you, our supporters. If I can paraphrase former New York Yankee great, Reggie Jackson, ‘you guys are the straws that stir the drink.’ Without you, we’re nothing. We are particularly grateful for your continued and loyal commitment to the Jazz Foundation.” – Dick Parsons, Chairman of the Jazz Foundation of America

SPOTLIGHT JAZZ will be online for 24 HOURS ONLY

Although there is NO CHARGE to enjoy this concert, please consider making a donation to help us provide urgent assistance to jazz and blues musicians in crisis.
