Musicians’ Emergency Fund

January 28, 2025

THE JAZZ FOUNDATION OF AMERICA IN PARTNERSHIP WITH RICHARD CORMAN…

……New York, NY – The Jazz Foundation of America (JFA) is proud to present A Wonderful World Exhibition: 37 Jazz and Blues Musician Portraits by Richard Corman, an extraordinary photographic exhibition that celebrates the iconic figures of jazz and blues while supporting the musicians who keep this rich cultural heritage alive. Proceeds from sales of photos from this exclusive showcase, held at the Wild Geese Gallery, will directly benefit JFA’s Musicians Emergency Fund, providing critical assistance to artists in need.

Each portrait in this collection reflects Richard Corman’s unparalleled ability to capture the soul of his subjects. These limited-edition prints, signed and numbered by the photographer are available for purchase, (unframed) for $5,000 each, with proceeds helping the Jazz Foundation JFA to provide housing, healthcare, and financial support to musicians facing urgent challenges.

In addition to this inspiring exhibition, JFA is hosting a series of free, live performances featuring Phil Young, Victor Gould, James Carter, Danny Mixon with Antoinette Montague and The Bethune Big Band (Paul West), several of whose portraits are prominently displayed in the gallery as part of this exhibition. Both the exhibition and live performances are free and open to the public and embody the spirit of jazz and blues, showcasing the vibrant artistry that JFA strives to support every day.

“Richard Corman has done brilliant work for decades capturing the spirit of iconic figures who define and drive culture globally. His collaboration with JFA since 2016.     is a natural extension of his vision: the musicians featured in this exhibition are heroic individuals and spellbinding artists. The large format of Richard’s prints reflects the grand talents of his subjects; at the same time, the intimacy of the moment in each image reflects the heart and the essential humanity behind the music”, says JFA Executive Director, Joe Petrucelli.

“I am in awe of the incredible work the JAZZ FOUNDATION of AMERICA does in support of the brilliant Jazz & Blues artists they assist in so many ways.  For the past 10 years, I have had the honor of looking into the eyes of these musicians, sharing their best truths with others. I will be forever grateful,” said Richard Corman.
