
Arts, Culture & Fun; Celebrate the Charlie Parker Jazz Festival with David Schnitter Quintet

Join NYC Parks Arts, Culture & Fun and the Charlie Parker Festival, for a jazz concert with the David Schnitter Quintet.
The esteemed tenor saxophonist David Schnitter is well known for his work with Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, Frank Foster, and Richard "Groove" Holmes, as well as with Charlie Parker's bandmate Red Rodney. An accomplished bandleader with ten albums to his name, today he brings a special band featuring Marti Mabin on vocals.
Presented in partnership with the Jazz Foundation of America, with partial support from the National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature, and from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, in partnership with the City Council.
Stay after the concert for a screening of Mary Lou Williams: The Lady Who Swings the Band (2015). Directed by Carol Bash. A feature documentary on the life and music of this renowned jazz pianist, composer and arranger.
