Multi-instrumentalist Abdou Mboup incorporates the jazz ensemble playing of his group Waakaw into the griot tradition of his native Senegal. As a performer, Mboup has worked with many important artists including Nina Simone, Kenny Barron, Harry Belafonte and Jon Hassell.
