George Braith has been a professional saxophonist for 70 years. A former Blue Note recording artist, George has played with greats like John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, and Dizzy Gillespie. George has toured the U.S., Europe, and Japan. An alumnus of Manhattan School of Music, George was mentored by soulful bebop saxophonist and NEA Jazz Master Lou Donaldson. Shows led by George feature an instrument of his own making called the Sopralto Braithaphone, which is a combination of a straight alto and soprano saxophone. George is featured in a mosaic at the 72nd Street station on the New York City Q subway line, solidifying him as a New York jazz legend.
