In partnership with Hudson River Park, The Jazz Foundation of America presents Ariacne Trujillo Quartet.
Grammy nominee Ariacne Trujillo Duran was born in Havana, Cuba. Starting out as a child prodigy with perfect pitch, she's had an extensive career as a concert pianist and composer, though she is known lately as one of the virtuoso pianists and vocalists in the New York area, where she has worked with acclaimed bands such as La Bolá and the Pedrito Martinez Group, music-directed multiple off-Broadway productions, and taught prolifically, including at New Jersey City University, where she is an adjunct professor. Her music carries a special treatment of the Tumbaos, mixing the traditional Cuban Music with Timba, classical highlights, aggressive harmonization and technical complexity. Trujillo has worked with Paul Simon, Paquito D. Rivera, Wynton Marsalis, Johnny Pacheco, John Scofield, Javier Limón, Steve Turre, Lew Soloff, Taj Mahal, Diego El Cigala, Derek Trucks, Isaac Delgado, and Esperanza Spalding and many others.
