Larry Willis, a jazz pianist who performed with Blood, Sweat & Tears and was nominated three times for a Grammy Award, died Sept. 29 at a hospital in Baltimore. He was 76. During a long career, Mr. Willis accompanied such jazz stars as Dizzy Gillespie, Hugh Masekela, Cannonball and Nat Adderley, Stan Getz and Art Blakey. “Music is my oxygen. It’s why I live,” he said in a 2007 interview with the Baltimore Sun.
Services will take place at Chatman-Harris Funeral Home in Baltimore on Friday, October 11th from 5:00pm-8:00pm followed by services on Saturday, October 12th beginning at 12:00pm.
