Riverside Park South | 07:00pm - 08:30pm | Free
The Jazz Foundation of America presents Cucho Martinez and Friends.
Bassist Cucho Martinez, originally a specialist on the maracas, has long made a name for himself in Latin jazz, having worked with many important artists including Horace Silver and Mongo Santamaria. He is perhaps best known for his 50-year partnership with the late, great percussionist Ray Mantilla. This concert features a sextet of longtime members of Mantilla's groups.
Supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and by the Howard Gilman Foundation.
