October 24, 2022 — LOS ANGELES, CA, Twenty years ago this fall, visionary jazz producer, record label owner, and Jazz Foundation of America honorary founders board member Hank O’Neal compiled a special charity album to promote and support the JFA’s Musicians’ Emergency Fund. Combing his archive of more than 200 jazz album productions at Chiaroscuro Records, Hank selected 16 favorite pieces for the limited-edition “One Good Turn” CD – which included rare cuts from legendary players like Lionel Hampton, Gerry Mulligan, Joe Williams, Mary Lou Williams, Milt Hinton, Clark Terry, and a never-before pairing of Dizzy Gillespie & Buddy Rich.

Through a special partnership between 32 Bar Blues, The Jazz Foundation of America, and Chiaroscuro Records, the 20th Anniversary Re-Release of “One Good Turn” is now available on compact disc.

The promo code JFAFREE can be used during checkout for Free Shipping on orders. 100% of the profits received from the sale of the “One Good Turn” CD and T-shirt will go directly to the Jazz Foundation’s Musicians’ Emergency Fund.

“Since our first catalog ten years ago, 32 Bar Blues has always featured musicians, writers and photographers alongside our clothing, and we give all profits from the sale of their work directly back to them as part of our commitment to the arts. Through the COVID-19 pandemic, we expanded our efforts by partnering with the Jazz Foundation on a special section of t-shirts, CDs and books to benefit the JFA’s Musicians’ Emergency Fund.

Last year, Hank sent me one of his original ‘One Good Turn’ CDs for consideration in our special JFA section – and from the first listen I knew we had to somehow make this incredible music available for our customers. That conversation sparked the creation of this 20th Anniversary Edition ‘One Good Turn’ CD and its feature in the 32 Bar Blues holiday catalogs”, explains Trevor Pitchford (Editorial Director, 32 Bar Blues | President of the nonprofit 32 Bar Blues Foundation) Hank O’Neal says, “The work of the now 30+ year old Jazz Foundation of America touches and improves the lives of countless jazz, blues and R&B musicians. After all the years of activity, the JFA has assisted many thousands of men and women, young and old but mostly older. In order to do its work the JFA must work with a multitude of organizations, both public and private, often within the entertainment community, but just as often outside it. Sometimes the best results are achieved when the inside and outside come together and this is precisely what has happened with the 20th Anniversary release of “One Good Turn”, a compilation of legendary jazz recordings from the years 1970- 2000, drawn from the catalog of Chiaroscuro Records in 2002.”
